Counselling and Psychotherapy
Short term talk therapy - Usually last between one week to 6 months.
Focus on current problems and situations.
Address specific situations and behaviors
Involve guidance, support and education that help people identify and find solutions to their current situation.
Concentrate on practical strategies and skills that help people achieve their identified goals.
Core therapeutic approach is talk therapy.
The terms “Counseling” and “Psychotherapy are often used interchangeably. There are some similarities between the two but also some distinct differences. Both counselling and psychotherapy:
Address emotional and mental health challenges.
Require the practitioner to be part of a regulated professional body subject to legal and ethical standards that include confidentiality and appropriate boundary setting.
Offer services as a trained counsellor, social worker, psychotherapist or psychologist.
Aim to help people look at their life, identify unhealthy thoughts, emotions and behaviors, shift perspectives and take steps towards a desired outcome.
Take into consideration cultural contexts that may influence the therapeutic approach
Key Characteristics of Counselling

Addresses core issues, experiences, unconscious motives, and deep-seated emotional issues to understand the root causes of present challenges (recommended for individuals struggling with chronic mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, or trauma).
May involve multiple therapeutic approaches including talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic therapy, etc.
Key Characteristics of Psychotherapy
As a social worker, I incorporate counselling and psychotherapy to provide the most effective services and the best possible outcomes. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Women are beautifully and uniquely designed to leave their mark on this world in ways that no one else can. Whether its to raise a family or change the world, they offer a unique perspective that allows them to nurture, solve problems and lead others well.
Women also have their own unique physical and mental health challenges and benefit from services that are uniquely designed for them. My goal is to provide a safe and welcoming space for them to tell their story, share their goals and dreams, heal their hurts and then conquer the world.

Couples Counselling
Regardless of what stage your relationship is in, there is always room for maintenance or a tune up. Couples counseling helps partners address relationship issues, improve communication and trust and resolve conflicts.
In couples counselling, the relationship itself is the client. The success of the relationship is determined by the commitment and investment of each participant. It’s not about blaming the other person, but more about what role you play in the success (or failure) of the relationship.
Couples counselling addresses a variety of issues including but not limited to anger and contol, narcissism, infidelity, emotional distancing, communication differences, problem solving, infertility, grief and loss.
I incorporate parts of cognitive behavioral therapy, the Gottman method and emotion focused therapy. I also follow the psychodynamic model that considers the past of each person in the relationship and how it may be influencing present circumstances.
Spiritual Care
Our mental health is at it’s best when each part of what makes us human is functioning properly. One essential part of who we are is our spiritual self.
Spirituality isn't just about a religion—it's about connecting with someone or something bigger than yourself that gives meaning to life. This can be accomplished in many different ways. Some people follow an established faith or religion while others prefer to engage in spiritual disciplines that connect them to something bigger. Spiritual disciplines can include:
breathwork to stay grounded in the present
church involvement
music that moves you
service to others
making the world a better place
spending time in nature, and more.
Following a religion or engaging in spiritual practices can also offer community and connection with others who have similar values as well as foster a greater sense of hope and meaning to life.
I incorporate spirituality from a Christian world view, when requested.
